SAL Champs: Lakewood BlueClaws

Posted by Amanda Orr, Sat, September 19, 2009 02:00 AM

Congratulations to the 2009 Lakewood BlueClaws!  For the second time in their 16-year history, the Phillies Single-A affiliate clinched the South Atlantic League title.  They beat the Greenville Drive (Red Sox) 5-1 in game four of the series.

Korey Noles earned the win, pitching seven solid innings.  The BlueClaws were able to manufacture runs by playing small ball. Travis d’Arnaud, Harold Garcia, Troy Hanzawa, and Anthony Gose each drove in runs.  Gose’s speed was a key factor in the victory.
