Dominic Brown Promoted

Posted by Amanda Orr, Sat, August 01, 2009 01:00 PM

According to Todd Zolecki (via Twitter), Dominic Brown has been promoted to Double-A Reading.

With the Gulf Coast League and Clearwater Threshers, Brown batted .310 with a .394 OBP, and .532 SLG.  He hit 11 home runs and had 44 runs batted in.  He stole 15 bases and his on-base plus slugging percentage was .926.  Many scouts believe that Brown is a better prospect than Michael Taylor.

Good to see,,,,Go Slow Down the Moutain.

  2. OZ Says:

in other news, if we consider our starting lineup: Lee, Hamels, Blaton, Happy, & Lopez – anyone else notice that Hamels has the highest ERA of that group? not a bad problem to have…

  3. NJ Says:

Great to see Brown get back healthy enough to get the call-up to AA.

OZ- Hate the burst the bubble but Lopez isn’t going to be the 5th starter, Moyer’s turned in an excellent months work and I all but guarantee Lopez will be one of the guys put on waivers and will be dealt for some kind of mid-level prospect. The issue for that final spot in the rotations whether Pedro comes up as a starter or reliever.

OZ can I have some of what you are smoking, did watch Lopez last time out, you must be hanging with Geoff and MOyer haters.
    The phillies rotation is
    Hamels
    Lee
    Blanton
    Happ
    Moyer
have a little respect for you elders

  5. Dave Says:

Oh, like Moyer didn’t just have a similar start just a week or two ago. Granted, it was sandwiched in between two excellent ones…

I think OZ knows that Moyer is the 5th starter and just put Lopez in to strengthen his argument. It doesn’t sound as convincing if you say

“well of our other 4 starters, all of them have lower ERA’s than Cole, except for Moyer, but he’s been pitching really well lately…”

  6. psujoe Says:

Anyone know anything about Austin Hyatt playing in Williamsport? He pitched 3.0 innings of no hit ball last night. That puts him at 26.2 innings 12 hits, 4 bbs, 40 K’s and a .34 era. Anyone know his pitches?

  7. joedad Says:

psujoe, phuturephils.com is the place to talk prospects.

    WE ARE….

  8. Kevin Says:

NJ i hate to burst your bubble but we are not putting Lopez on the waiver wire. He has almost no value to us in that department. It will be the Pen that he pitches from as a long reliever just like Park.

  9. Kevin Says:

    PENN STATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It appears im not the only one who questions as to WTF was management thinking when they let go of Coste and kept Bako the Taco boy…..he has no offense and Coste was almost a consistent hitter with pop to his bat. Bako certainly isnt better defensively……did anyone see what he did when Lidge was throwing his slider in the dirt? Bako had no clue what to do with that. I am not down on the Phils management but i think they let a huge fart go on that decision. Coste was a good bat when compared to Bako…….anyone else agree or disagree? im hoping someone disagrees and explains to me what i feel to be a bonehead move so i wont sit here wondering why anymore.
