Um, these guys are douchebags.
January 9th, 2009 at 3:05 pm
Um John “Fire”… You sir are a douchebag. I doubt your real last name is Fire. If your going to pick a name that is going to make you sound more bad ass pick something other than fire. Because John Fire tells me nothing except that you are a Flamer. You know Nothing about us except what you see in a 2 minute video. if you want to learn more about us, or call us douchbags to our faces, come to section 306 row 9 seats 10 and 11 once the season starts and you will have your chance…
January 9th, 2009 at 3:08 pm
Jason B were you the one filming this, calling your friend out for not chugging the cheap vodka twice, but refusing to chug it twice yourself, and throwing things at the catcher in the bullpen, with the dragon tattoo on your forearm…
or the other guy… the one that gives the finger late in the video??
January 9th, 2009 at 3:11 pm
The guy that gives the finger in the video….
January 9th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
Oh, ok cool.. I can’t believe you guys didn’t win the tickets though
January 9th, 2009 at 3:17 pm
Real classy video … exactly what I’d expect from a Philly fan.
The funny part is that deep down you know what you are … a bunch of white trash living in a second class city.
I’m actually glad that the Phillies won last year. It will make 2009 that much more fun.
January 9th, 2009 at 3:21 pm
That’s classy.. you must have taken courses on the subject in October, lots of free time with no baseball games to watch, I’m glad you did something productive with your time.
January 9th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
Excuse me Brian, but what is your purpose or point in showing this video? You find humor in this?
January 9th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
No Class… We are Hardcore fans. Just like I am sure you are a hardcore Mets fan. Like you, we have seen some dark days in this sport. We have seen ugly losses, many of them. Sometimes when the loss is really bad, we tend to verbalize our disappointment. That’s all. I have been to Shea to see a Phils Mets game and saw the same stuff happening. I was the victim of some of it. But I understand that that behavior for better or worse can be part of a game, espeacially between rival teams. Get over it. And to call us a second class city is one thing, but at least our city lets our team play IN the city. Instead your team got banished to a hell hole aptly named Flushing NY. White Trash? Well, maybe… but that has nothing to do with it. Die hard fans of a championship team? Definately, and that is one thing you can not say about your “First Class” city. (P.S. don’t tell me about the Giants SuperBowl, because they don’t even play in NY state, let alone city)
January 9th, 2009 at 3:38 pm
No need to take courses on the subject. I’m not from Philly so I don’t need to be taught what classy is.
Nice shot with the October baseball reference – kind of funny but a bit tired. I realize that my team has choked away two seasons. But my life does not revolve around how my team has done.
I’m willing to bet that the people in this video don’t have much prospects outside of rooting for the Phillies so I’m glad they won for their sake. I say this knowing full well that there are also Mets fans that are way worse than this. But you won’t see a video like this posted on metsblog.com. I usually like coming to this site to get the Philly viewpoint on things but after checking out this video I have to question the intelligence of the person running the site.
January 9th, 2009 at 3:45 pm
Jason B – learn how to spell
January 9th, 2009 at 3:45 pm
How on earth can the October baseball references be “a bit tired” ….as someone who checks out this site to see our viewpoints, surely you read all the same comments we did all year long about how the Mets are the greatest team of all time. . . especially when the Mets were leading in the NL East and the Phillies weren’t even in the Wild Card as the season started down the back stretch..
No Mets fan can come on here and say anything about us making fun of the Mets choking or saying that its getting old, or tired, or whatever… YOU are the ones coming on here to talk smack all season, but lately there have been less and less Mets fans with anything good to say other than bragging about K-Rod (and his 8 Blown Saves)..
We’re always down for talking baseball with Mets fans, and “baseball” fans in general, but after the way the Mets fans acted all year, you should expect to hear nothing but Mets-bashing until or unless the Mets finish the season ahead of the Phillies
January 9th, 2009 at 3:52 pm
No Class, I apologize that my spelling is a tad off, I had oral surgery and taking medication. But with all your CLASS I appreciate you proof reading my rebuttal.
January 9th, 2009 at 3:53 pm
I’m fine with the bashing … in the comments section.
This video shows the “bottle of the barrel” fan. Not something to be proud of. I’m not saying that Mets fans are innocent either.
Plus, I don’t live in NY, I live in NJ. And I actually like Philly. But there is no denying that it is a second class city and that seeps into your mentality. It is why you are so frustrated. You know this and I bet you like it too. It is like always rooting for the underdog.
January 9th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
Look … I hope this rivalry continues. I identify with the “blue collar” Philly mentality more so than with the NY mentality. All I’m saying is that this may have been a poor choice of video to post.
I really shouldn’t be commenting about class. I have a Reyes jersey and I’m not ashamed to admit that I enjoy the brashness he displays.
But on the same token I also realize that Victorino does the same thing. I don’t hate him for it though. I like those things. It lights fires and enhances the rivalry.
And I am not ashamed to admit that I am quite jealous of the team you guys root for. I wish my Mets had displayed the same fight that your Phillies displayed. Maybe someday they will …
Also, for full disclosure, I’m a Broncos fan so I am the proud owner of two of the biggest choke jobs ever. So rip away …
January 9th, 2009 at 4:01 pm
I don’t think of Philadelphia as anything other than “home” …. Second Class to what??
In terms of sports teams and stuff I would be embarrased to root for a team that is constantly one of the highest payrolls, whose GM sucks, and my team couldn’t even make the playoffs.. which covers both the Mets and the Yankees..
Granted the Phillies just made it the past two years, but have a great young core of players that are home-grown, not bought… and they’ve been getting better each of the past 3-4 seasons. Its a great time to be a Philadelphia sports fan
January 9th, 2009 at 4:01 pm
Actually No class, I am very proud of who I am as a fan. I am proud of the fact that on certain nights or days in the year, I can stop being the rational, even keeled person that I am and be the “bottle of the barrel” fan you say I am. And since we’re so into proof reading. that statement made no sense. I’m sure you meant to say “bottom,” but hey, who’s proof reading. Call us a second class city all you like, but at least the herpes rate in Philly isn’t 26% like it is in NY. At least we have enough class to use condoms. Also, historically, Philadelphians wanted revolution from the British, New Yorkers however swore loyal to King George. If it were up to the turn coat New Yorkers, we’d be talking about soccer with British Accents rather than baseball.
January 9th, 2009 at 4:06 pm
there’s no need to knock Philly for this video – it’s not a second class city, it’s a great city with great fans and an unbelievable baseball team that we love. these guys in the video are not representative of Philly sports fans. i think they were trying to be clever, but unfortunately, it’s just crass. I stand by my original statement despite Jason B’s aggressive response.
January 9th, 2009 at 5:07 pm
Fan Friday may have been the best-worst thing we’ve ever come up with. Spring Training is only a few weeks away…
January 9th, 2009 at 5:12 pm
I checked out John B’s blog and it looks like he just likes to stir things up. Here’s a post he wrote on a Mets blog that he bragged about on his own:
“Well, well, well. You stinkin Mets fans are pumping your chest hard after signing K- Rod and Putz. Well, let me a Phillies fan remind you that your starting rotation after Santana is garbage. Your bullpen still sucks before the 8th inning. Jose Reyes s still a Jack-ass who will always talk as big as Rollins, but will never be able to hold his jock strap. Delgado will not produce the midseason numbers he did last year, and Beltran will come up small for your club once again. Go ahead and trade your prospects for Marquis, he will just be another piece of litter in the trash heap that you call New York. Come September, you will again be looking up at the Phillies in the standings, as we will be on top once again. But rumor has it, David Wright prefers his men to be on top.”
January 9th, 2009 at 5:45 pm
o and real classy btw, the titlle of this thread explains it all, you guys are di*ks
January 9th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
Just as classy and about as much fun would be a video of my cat hacking up a fur ball-I could arrange it the shape of a “P”, sprinkle with red M&M’s…..
January 9th, 2009 at 6:27 pm
Let me be the first to agree with Rob….Fan Friday has delivered non stop entertainment to a rather dull off season. It truly is the best/worst thing on this site on any given Friday!
January 9th, 2009 at 7:29 pm
jan, those with class show class. you can’t criticize others of having no class while displaying none on your own.
January 9th, 2009 at 7:52 pm
I’m sure glad those guys are on my team. By the way, I’d love to point out based on the end of that film that this year I have done two unthinkable things: rooted for the Marlins and cheered on the Raiders. Life can be a bizarre thing sometimes.
Also, to restate Don M’s question, Philly is second class to what? I personally don’t, but even if you consider New York to be the creme de la creme, I’d have a time coming up with any cities as great as Billy Penn’s grand experiment. Boston? No. LA? Hell no! DC? Trust me, not the case. Miami? Pshaw.
January 9th, 2009 at 8:44 pm
These guys are morons. This is a bad example of a Phillies fan. I’d say that he isn’t as much of a Phils fan as he is a Mets hater. There’s a difference between douchebag and fan and some Phillies fan do a wonderful job of blurring that line. I certainly enjoy Fan Friday with stories of father and son and how much this team has meant to people much more than a video of a douchebag who simply uses this team as an excuse to act like a loud mouth moron. That’s hardly a fan. Plus he’s a horrible photographer.
January 9th, 2009 at 9:52 pm
Everybody needs to take an emotional bowel movement from time to time. It is a good thing so many fans were able to get this out of their systems. Go Phils 2009
January 9th, 2009 at 9:54 pm
dan, you make zero sense
January 9th, 2009 at 9:55 pm
i know for a fact i wouldnt be an a**hole and throw things at chris coste or carlos ruiz while there in the bullpen. Philly, go Phuck yourselves
January 10th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
Man, sure smells like butthurt Mets fans in here…
January 11th, 2009 at 7:47 pm
This is what Phillies fans are all about!
Yo sean, these douchebags will kick your ass and more. You have to throw the rowdy ones in with the Pop and son fans on fan friday. If not, you’re truly not showing a wide spectrum of phans that show up each and every game at citizens bank park.
WE SALUTE YOU PHILLIES FANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
January 12th, 2009 at 1:18 pm
First of all, for every sport there’s a very wide spectrum of fans. The “Father-Son” fans are just as dedicated but have more of a tendency to roll over quietly in the darker moments of their team. These guys are being just what they are, two die hard fans that don’t mask who they are for anyone. Don’t cry over buddies pre-gaming for a game then acting exactly like what they are, pure and true drunk Phillies Phans. Granted some of the things **cough cough** throwing the sunflower seeds **cough cough** were a little out there, but what about the trash cans and dumpsters that were lit on fire after the world series? Pretty sure if you YouTubed that you would find far more offensive acts to cry about then what’s in this. Two sides to ever coin fellas, and good job at showing the rowdy, in-your-face fans that stick it to the end as opposed to the ones who leave early during a loss.
On a side note for the people who says Philly lacks class, Philly doesn’t care about you and your PMS problems. If you can’t accept fans for supporting in their own style, I have an extra tampon in my purse for you.
January 12th, 2009 at 3:13 pm
^^^^^ very nice
January 12th, 2009 at 7:54 pm
There is absolutely no justification to say that the “Father and Son” fans turn over on the team when they aren’t playing well or leave early during a game. That is not a fact. But if we’re sticking with generalities, then usually, a team means more to the “Father and Son” fans. It’s usually something passed down and this team may be their only connection. My problem with this selection is that I would hardly call this “Phandom.” Like I said before, I think sometimes young fans use this team as an excuse to act obnoxiously. Case and point is this fan challenging people to come to his section or calling people flamers, etc. That’s not a fan. That’s a young kid that gets wrapped up in being obnoxious instead of watching the game.
January 12th, 2009 at 10:40 pm
Thats what some fans are, obnoxious. What do you expect from some fans that drink in the parking lot?!?!? Do you think they will conduct themselves as if they were going to see disney on ice??? They have the right to yell, scream and carry on as long as nobody gets hurt.
To call them non-fans is simply an absurd statement, these guys might be the most hardcore fans I’ve seen at citizens bank park. Go to Milwaukee if you want docile baseball fans.
June 20th, 2010 at 2:40 pm
Hi there could I use some of the material from this blog if I reference you with a link back to your site?
